What P0113 Means
The intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is reporting an unusually high (or open-circuit) reading, which throws off the engine's fuel and timing calculations.
Common Causes
- Faulty or damaged IAT sensor
- Corroded or disconnected wiring/connector
- Sensor contaminated with dirt or oil
Symptoms You Might Notice
- Usually minimal drivability impact
- Slightly rough cold starts in some cases
- Check engine light on
- Possible small fuel economy drop
What to Check First
- 1
Inspect the IAT sensor connector for corrosion or a loose fit
- 2
Check the sensor's resistance against the manufacturer's specification at a known temperature
- 3
Replace the sensor if it's out of range — it's an inexpensive, easy part to swap
