P0113

Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input

Low severity Easy to diagnose

What P0113 Means

The intake air temperature (IAT) sensor is reporting an unusually high (or open-circuit) reading, which throws off the engine's fuel and timing calculations.

Common Causes

  • Faulty or damaged IAT sensor
  • Corroded or disconnected wiring/connector
  • Sensor contaminated with dirt or oil

Symptoms You Might Notice

  • Usually minimal drivability impact
  • Slightly rough cold starts in some cases
  • Check engine light on
  • Possible small fuel economy drop

What to Check First

  1. 1

Inspect the IAT sensor connector for corrosion or a loose fit

  2. 2

Check the sensor's resistance against the manufacturer's specification at a known temperature

  3. 3

Replace the sensor if it's out of range — it's an inexpensive, easy part to swap
