P0106

Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Range/Performance Problem

Medium severity Moderate to diagnose

What P0106 Means

The MAP sensor, which measures intake manifold pressure to help calculate how much fuel to inject, is sending a reading that doesn't match what the engine control module expects.

Common Causes

  • Vacuum leak near the MAP sensor or its hose
  • Faulty MAP sensor
  • Damaged or corroded wiring/connector to the sensor
  • Dirty or clogged sensor port

Symptoms You Might Notice

  • Rough idle
  • Poor acceleration
  • Check engine light on
  • Reduced fuel economy

What to Check First

  1. 1

Inspect the vacuum hose connected to the MAP sensor for cracks or a loose fit

  2. 2

Check the sensor's wiring and connector for corrosion or damage

  3. 3

Test the sensor's output against a known-good reading; replace if out of range
