While visually appealing and excellent for social status, this process comes with severe hidden risks. The cosmetic upgrade can easily be used to hide front-end or rear-end accident damage. Furthermore, wiring 2020 LED headlights into a 2008 electrical system often requires splicing wires, which can lead to electrical shorts, battery drain, or even fire hazards if done poorly.

In Nigeria, where newer cars are prohibitively expensive due to high exchange rates and import duties, facelifting offers a cheaper way to maintain prestige.
